SAMPSON, Herbert Stanley(1891-1955) Worked for British makers and dealers until 1908 and made first instrument in that year. Arrived in Melbourne 1909. Worked for A.E. Smith in Melbourne before opening his own workshop. 30 violins made up to 1924. Worked at 115 Elizabeth St, Melbourne in 1930's as violin maker, repairer and importer.
