Founded in 1874 by William Lewis (1835-1902) with partners Newell and Gi, and originally named Lewis, Newell & Gi, before being renamed the Chicago Music Company. The name was changed to William Lewis & Son when Frederick Lewis joined the firm. Bows were branded \"Wm. Lewis & Son\". Employ a large number of first class luthiers. Specialise in rare violins and expert restorations. President: Mr. R. Olson; Chief Executives - Mr. Carl Becker, and son, and Mr. H. Benson. Publishers of “Violins & Violinists”, etc. Many of the famous instruments now in America have passed through this well known Violin House with a great reputation.
