Colin Cross graduated from the Newark School of Violin Making, with a Distinction, in 1989 and, since then, has worked extensively as a restorer, repairer and maker of fine violins.
As a maker, he specialises in violins and violas with a tonal quality as rich and individual as their texture and finish. Colin also has an international reputation for sensitive and sympathetic restoration and repair work.
Colin’s instruments are bought and played by musicians in professional orchestras all over the world. His shop in Buxton was the premier choice for maintenance, repairs and new instruments for many players from the Opera North, Liverpool Philharmonic and the Hallé and he is now bringing the same level of service and quality to Deal and its surrounds.
Colin renovates and repairs violins, violas, cellos, double basses and bows, alongside making new instruments. His Deal workshop will also provide a convenient location for customers to come for set-ups, bow rehairing, and general instrument maintenance.
