Marc Soubeyran was born and brought up in Lyon, France. He served his apprenticeship at the Swiss violin making school. From 1981-87 he worked at Edward Withers, London, for Dietrich Kessler, making over 25 violas da gamba for him, as well as repairing instruments of the violin family, and furthering his knowledge of period instruments.
From 1987-2001 he successfully ran his own business in London, during which time he was instrumental in setting up the British Violin Making Association (BVMA), holding the first post of Chairman for 6 years.
He relocated to Ludlow in 2001, from where he offers the following services:
