Detail Introduction

WATCHORN, Ian (b.1955) Began making and repairing in Sydney (1976) before moving to Canberra (1979). Studied instrument conservation at Germanisches Nationalmuseum, Nurnberg, Germany (1982-1984) with Friedemann Hellwig and John Henry van der Meer. Subsequently employed at the museum as a conservator (1984-1987). Worked at the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney as conservator and curator (1987-1990). From 1990 has worked privately as a maker, conservator and consultant in Melbourne.
