He was born on November 24 1950 in Siena (Tuscany). After his studies in his hometown, he attended a classical guitar course. His growing wish to make an instrument by himself, led him to a violinmaker in Florence, who addressed him to the International Violinmaking Institute in Cremona, where he began his studies in 1974. His teachers were, at first, Master Giorgio Scolari and, later, Master GioBatta Morassi, under whose guidance he graduated in 1978.

In the same year, he opened his own workshop in Cremona and the Violinmaking Institute asked him to teach at the practical classes. Although he valuated this experienxce as positive, he had to give it up after just a year, because teaching took him too much away from his violinmaker job. From 1978 to 1982, he was asked by the Regione Lombardia to become Maestro Walter Leoni\'s assistant for the classical guitar constructions course, which allowed him to perfect himself also with this instrument.

He devotes himself, prevalently, to the construction of violins, violas and cellos, but he extended his professional knowledge also on making other instruments, such as hurdy-gurdy, lute, mandoline, baroque guitar and bass viola.

He got several prizes at varoius violinmaking competitions. The most important was in 1986 at the competition just for violins, "H. Wienawski", in Poznam (Poland), with a secon prize.

He is a founder member of the A.L.I. (Italian Violinmaking Association) and the A.E.L. (European Violinmakers Association).
He works in the historic centre of Cremona, in Via Beltrami n. 8, few steps far from the Cathedral Square.
