Detail Introduction

HUME, Charles Darley(1865-1948/1949) Worked initially at Manchester and with Bela Szepessy in Soho, London. First violin made in Liverpool, 1883. Came to Australia in 1889, settled in Hawthorn as  a teacher and orchestral player,and resumed making in 1897. Made about 59 violins, violas and cellos and also bows. Won several awards at various exhibitons. Played db with the MSO, 1920s.
